I was a rehire so the manager was mostly interested in why I had left Payless the first time to just reapply later. It was only because I had moved so it did not end up becoming an issue.

There are mostly typical interview questions that anyone hiring would ask. What some applicants seem to be the most unprepared for is the role-playing. Its a sort of audition you do with the manager or another associate who is working if they are not busy. The manager pretends to be a customer and you have to 1)Greet them 2)ID their needs and offer assistance 3) Sell them some shoes AND accessories. So a great tip is to be aware of the sale that is going on at the time and explain it while trying to sell. They are usually right there on the posters on the windows and throughout the store.
