Entrevista para Accounting and Finance Operations Analyst

      Entrevista

I was invited to a group interview where there were about 5 other people "interviewing" with me. I put interviewing in quotations because it wasn't quite a normal group interview. At first we just all talked with some of the finance team and ate pizza. Then we did a very simple accounts payable exercise for about 30 minutes. They took us one by one to do individual interviews which only lasted about 10 minutes or less. They had us go over our thought process for the exercise and then asked us some basic interview questions. There really wasn't much individual time or in depth interviewing, but from that they said they would contact people to let them know if they had any questions (in other words they would contact you if they wanted to invite you back for a second interview or not contact you). You really have to shine in this setting and somehow impress most of the people there. And like another reviewer mentioned, most of the finance employees there were recent college grads or had been working there less than a year.

We were given an account payable list and asked to pick the top 5 accounts we would have our (very busy) vice president approve and pay first.

      Entrevista

Submitted resume and received an email a couple of days later to schedule a phone interview. Phone interview was roughly 30 minutes, all behavioral. Got asked basic questions like "Why Palantir?" and "Why finance?". Received an email about 3 days later inviting me to an on-site interview. On-site interview consisted of 4 back-to-back interviews, one of which was conducted during lunch. Most were all behavioral and chill. They actually do pamper you with frequent restroom breaks and fully-stocked fridges. Like others have said, one guy seemed like he really didn't want to be there and didn't want to talk to me at all. He was actually very rude and arrogant. After all 4 interviews they take all of the interviewees into a board room and show you a product demo. One by one, at different times, all of the recruiters (I honestly don't know why they need so many) pull you out of the board room. They take you to different spots and basically tell you that they'll get back to you with the results (aka you didn't make the cut) or that you'll be meeting with a founder. I didn't meet with a founder, so I left knowing I didn't get the job.

      Entrevista

The company looks to be a pretty cool place to work, hiring process is odd though. I applied for the position and received an invitation to attend a group interview that started at 5PM on a work night. As part of the interview I was asked to come up with a way to sort AP bills that needed to be paid and then explain how/why I chose that specific method, not too bad if you have had some AP/finance experience. After that test I was ushered into a 1:1 interview with finance team member. Nice guy, seemed thoroughly interested in finding the right person for the job and getting to know me and who I was. Odd note, he used a lot of very informal language c***, sh**, etc. I wasn't sure if he was just being candid or seeing if I would follow along and use the same language. After the interview I was given a demo of Palantir's software, it was very interesting. I was asked to return a week later for a second interview. This interview was during the work day and was with 4 different people. The first interview was a bit awkward as the interviewer came off as overly aggressive, he seemed irritated, almost as if they were wasting his time by having him do interviews. My second interview was with a more senior person in the accounting group, he was a nice guy and seemed interested in talking with me. He also seemed to be the only person that knew how to interview. Third interview was with another accounting guy, he was completely disinterested and it really irritated me. He had a standoffish attitude and would ask questions while playing with his pen and then sit and play with his pen while I was answering them. He seemed to not care about what I had to say. Last interviewer was nice enough, she talked very fast and had a similar back story to mine. Asked lots of very pointed questions and then asked me if I had any, I asked a few and had a few more to ask but then she ended the interview, in a fairly abrupt manner. Not sure what her motive for ending the interview so abruptly, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. After that I waited for about 5-7 minutes for the recruiter to come in and debrief with me. She told me she would get back to me in a week to a week and a half. After 1.5 weeks I followed up with the recruiter, it took her 24 hours to respond and she said she would get a status update form the finance group and let me know, 1.5 weeks later I received a call from another recruiter, someone I had never met or corresponded with, and she told me that they would not be moving forward with an offer. She also offered to give me some feedback, which I accepted, but when I asked her for more clarification she seemed to not really know anything and just be reading off of something she was provided with. All in all, the experience was ok. I understand Palantir is a great company with a lot of great talent, but if they want to continue to attract more talent, they should really fix their interview process. It did not seem to have any rhyme or reason and they were very slow to respond to anything. Also, please train your employees on proper interview etiquette, the lack of proper ettiquette can be a huge turnoff for prospective employees.
