Received an email asking when would be best to call for a quick phone screen. Emailed back, received the call and had a very good experience where I was given everything I needed to know, I then progressed to the interview at a later date, they were flexible on times.
In the official interview, one interviewer was unable to make it at the last minute, which I think threw off the other interviewer a bit. Possibly as a result, there weren't as many questions as expected, I was asked for questions close to the 30 minute mark (I expected it to be longer). During the interview, the interviewer casually mentioned they were actually looking for a significantly more senior role to succeed another person there who hadn't been in the role long. I was well qualified for the role advertised, yet unexpectedly found myself in an interview for a more complex role, which is why I assume I didn't progress to the next stage!
Highly recommend better defining roles before advertising to make the whole recruitment process easier for the candidates and the employer.
