Entrevista
A most regrettable and unprofessional experience. I applied online for a position and received an e-mail and phone call to set up time to do a phone screen. I spent a couple of days preparing my talking points and researching the company, but when the time came for the interview, the interviewer simply blew me off. After waiting ten minutes, I phoned her, thinking there may have been an error. I left a voice mail and followed it up with a polite e-mail to double-check what had happened. I did not hear back from her. The next day I left a second voice mail, thinking perhaps she had had an emergency or that there had been some sort of development. None of my messages were ever returned.
If the company simply decided to pursue other candidates or closed the search, that's certainly understandable, but to schedule a phone interview with a candidate and then completely disregard it without even a courtesy reply of any kind reflects extremely unprofessional conduct on behalf of the recruiter. Either the firm needs to do a better job of hiring and training its young staff, or they simply need to realize that this sort of behavior will have negative consequences when it comes to trying to recruit talented professionals in the future, many of whom will undoubtedly share experiences like these to discourage other people from wasting their time.
