I went through the interview process at OLX Portugal a couple of years ago, and overall it was a very positive and well-structured experience. The process was thoughtfully designed, and the company provided clear materials and guidance that helped candidates understand what to expect and how to prepare at each stage.
In total, I had five interviews and completed a UX design exercise. There were three exercise options to choose from, which I appreciated, as it allowed candidates to play to their strengths. My exercise went well enough for me to progress to the final stage, which felt encouraging and fair.
Unfortunately, the final interview somewhat overshadowed an otherwise excellent process. This last step was conducted by two Senior/Lead Designers. During the interview itself, the real-time feedback I received felt neutral to positive. At several points, they explicitly mentioned that they appreciated my openness and the fact that I was showing vulnerability in my responses.
However, after the process concluded, the feedback I received was that I was not selected because I allegedly came across as arrogant. This was surprising and difficult to reconcile with the feedback given during the interview, which had suggested the opposite. The significant discrepancy between the real-time feedback and the final evaluation made this part of the experience feel confusing and disappointing.
That said, aside from this final interaction, the interview process at OLX Portugal was structured, transparent, and thoughtfully designed, and it left me with a generally positive impression of the company’s approach to hiring.
