Entrevista
I just want to start off with the fact that I didn't not apply for a job here. An HR person reached out to me on LinkedIn and that got the ball in motion... Initially I had 2 phone calls, one with the HR rep, the other with the hiring manager. Both went great. Those were followed by an onsite interview. I met again with the aforementioned followed by the hiring managers superior over a con-call (he works out of NY) and then finally on to the 2 peers to the position. The first was with a very smart engineer, he couldn't come in so that was done over con-call. The second interview was with a dba. He was very difficult to talk to and was overly concerned that I might potentially be his boss someday. He mentioned it four or five times like it was an aggravating point he wanted to drive home with me. "You are not going to be my boss you know", "you understand that you won't ever be my manager, right?", "why are you here, what's wrong with your job now?", so on and so forth. I explained that I wasn't looking however your HR pinged me because I checked off many of the boxes they were looking for. He said, "yeah ok" and continued on. Back story is that I currently hold a team lead role at IBM and he was very fixated with that part of my resume. In fact that was the only thing he talked about. It wasn't professional or even an interview, as I barely spoke, rather I listen to him tell me that I was not a good fit. It was made very clear that he did not want me on the team. I left deflated as the opportunity seemed so exciting. All the others seemed great as well. Oddly enough I got an offer. I pushed back on the salary and they met me. I took a few hours to think it over and in the end I declined. I felt like taking a new position with team members who noticeably didn't feel I was a good fit could have potentially put me at a disadvantage. I also feared the impeding any potential of eventually advancement within the team/company.
