Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Nordstrom (Nashville, TN) en jul 2011

      Entrevista

Nordstrom is opening a new store in the Nashville area this fall. I have always heard great things about this company, so I decided to apply for a customer service/cash room position. I applied on-line, then received an email asking me to take an assessment. I then received another email a few days later saying that I had passed the assessment, and to choose a time from an on-line scheduling tool to have a phone interview with a recruiter. I had my phone interview about a week later, and it went well. The recruiter asked me a few behavioral questions, and then told me that she would like to schedule an in-person interview. This interview would take place in 2 weeks at a hotel in the Nashville area since the store is not yet open. I received 3 phone calls leading up to this interview from people in the HR department confirming that I would be coming for the interview. I was also told that the interview would take about 2 hours. I scheduled a day off from work to attend this interview. I was in a room with 7 other candidates who were all applying for different positions. The recruiter told us about the company, her background, and then she introduced us to the store manager. We were then greeted by the hiring managers for the positions that we were all interviewing for. I met with the customer service manager. She only asked me about my ability to sell credit cards, and said that the main function of this position was to walk around the store all day and make sure that the sales associates were promoting the credit card and to individually sell credit cards. This seemed nothing like the position description that I applied for which stated that the main duties were to: take credit card payments and help customers with inquiries, gift wrapping, selling gift cards, processing returns, assisting customers with ordering items on-line and having them shipped to the store, and working in the cash room. The whole interview process that day lasted less than 40 minutes. I was a little irritated since I was told that it would take 2 hours and I scheduled a day off from work just for the interview. The next day I received a voicemail from someone in the HR department that said they had went with another candidate. I feel like Nordstrom has too high of an opinion of itself, and will be curious to see how well they do in the Nashville area. After this experience, I can honestly say that I will probably never set foot in the store once it opens.
