Sent code test before talking to a human. Code test was very difficult. Typical gatekeeping to keep anyone but computer science grads from positions, therefore, perpetuating corporate blindspots by limiting the accessibility of these roles to a small group of people who's reasoning is probably "This is how it's always been."

Absurd brainteasers, not reflective of actual real-world work

Was first invited to a challenging online coding test, then an interview with several stages. Engineering managers did a general interview with questions about projects and teamwork, more junior engineers supervised whiteboarding (easier than the initial test but still tricky), then another coding exercise. Managers were very nice, but the whiteboarding interviewers gave the impression this was just a big inconvenience for them and didn't bother with the usual polite greetings like "nice to meet you." Not the most encouraging environment for working on a tough problem, and not people I would look forward to working with.

Applied online and was frustratingly sent an online coding assessment before even speaking to a human. Withdrew from the process since I'm not going to spend 3 hours on a coding assessment if I haven't even spoken to a recruiter to learn more about the role/company.
Very frustrating to see NextCapital handle interviews like this when it's something that not even FAANG companies do anymore. Makes it feel like they don't really value you as a person if you don't even get to talk to a recruiter unless you prove your worth by scoring high enough on a test
