5 rounds of interviews.
Red flag #1: they ask you to go into detail about your previous role with a lot of specificity. This made me wonder if they were trying to use this information to influence their current strategy.
Red flag #2: it eventually became unclear if the position was in fact going to be available as circumstances surrounding the role were revealed in later interviews. (I don't think those that revealed the information were quite aware of its potential implication.)
Red flag #3: there was an interaction where a senior leader asked a question and although it was answered, not mentioning one small tangential detail elicited a dramatized reaction. It felt a bit like grandstanding.
Red flag #4: towards the end of each interview, almost everyone informed me of how qualified I am for the role, how I'd bring new valuable strategy to the table, and how the conversations felt introspective and full of synergy for them as well.
After the first round, my intuition told me there was something odd about the prospect and while I can't shake the feeling they were after my knowledge as an industry professional, at the end of the day, it is still conjecture. Regardless, be aware, be cautious, and if your gut feeling is telling you something is off... mine was the fluke, yours is a pattern.
