Me postulé en línea. Acudí a una entrevista en National Indoor RV Centers en feb 2021

      Entrevista

I submitted my resume one evening and then got a call from the CTO the very next day. We discussed my background, the position, salary expectations and etc. Call took longer than alotted but this was fine becauyse it was a fun conversation and genuinely enjoyed hearing about their processes and setup. After the call I was sent a basic online IQ screening assessment to complete. Nothing fancy. About a week later I had an interview with 3 rounds, each round with a different member of their team. All interviewers were friendly, respectful and easy to talk to. My time zone was two hours behind them, and they still allowed me to schedule in the evening. I was impressed by how accommodating they were. The first round was javascript/programming test which I believe I did somewhat poorly on the second task. I still got the right answer, but it required pushing from the interviewer to get there. Looking back now, I'm extremely embarrassed that I wasn't able to complete this in 5 minutes or less but I honestly just wasn't prepared for the question, mainly because it was outside of my regular day-to-day work and just kinda caught me off guard. The second round was with HTML/CSS. Again, the interviewer was fun to talk to, and a fun experience. I was given a task to buildout a landing page from a mockup ( their website header and footer are part of the mockup) in just 30 mins. Obviously, I didn't succeed. There was no way to complete this task, and they admitted this afterwards. It was basically just to get an idea of what you can do. I'm not sure this is a good method, because the best option was to copy the existing website's code as a template, then drop in the mockup into this . At the time I felt like that would be cheating so I didn't go that route. After the interview I challenged myself to a redo of this round, and I was able to do it using that method in 45 mins. Still not hitting the 30 mins, but a heck of a lot closer. Anyways, I left this round confused as to how I actually did because there wasn't a way to actually succeed. The third round was with the marketing director, and this was a phone only call. Mainly just basic questions about what I would change with their current site, my comfort level in different scenarios, how this role would work with him, and other things like that. Again, another pleasant conversation, no complaints. After the interview I sent each a thank you email, and was told by the CTO they'd follow up at the end of the week. The end of the week came and I hadn't heard anything, so I reached out and they said it was taking a bit longer than expected and they still had one candidate left to interview but would get back to me in another week. I reached out at the end of that week and this was around when the Texas winter storm of 2021 was occurring and this effected things. They mentioned that they were having a tough time at the moment because of the storm so I figured I'd give them time to get everything back up and running. I never heard from them again, so it may be possible they're still just buried under the winter snow trying to dig themselves out, however its probably a bit more likely that they just went with someone else and never let me know. To summarize, my only qualm was that they left me hanging at the end. Everything else throughout the entire process was a great experience, and I'd definitely try again if given the chance now that I'm more prepared for that first round.
