Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 6 días. Acudí a una entrevista en MyrLabs (Singapur) en ago 2025

      Entrevista

After submitting 2 take-home technical tasks, I was invited to a dinner interview. I had previously disclosed that I struggle with eating during formal meals due to sensory issues. I politely requested an alternative format, such as over coffee or tea. Their first response was a one-word reply: “Adapt.” When I stated and explained my application withdrawal, they doubled down and replied that “MyrLabs is not a place that has the patience to coddle personal issues,” and that if I couldn’t “survive a dinner”, I likely couldn’t “survive a work day.” They also rejected the idea of allowing anyone time to adjust to new environments. I withdrew from the process after that. The tasks were challenging and fun, but the interaction reflected an emotionally unsafe and inflexible work culture.

      Pregunta 1

The role is for an entry level position in a small startup. Our philosophy is to pay for actual experience and proven performance than academic outcomes. We can only provide you work on capabilities that are cutting edge, profit sharing when it is commercialised, and a management position if you can grow into the opportunities that we send your way. What are your thoughts on this? What are your motivations and interests in taking the role? Could you give me a quick description of your work style? How do you like to be managed? How do you define success? What are 2 interesting things that I should know that is not on your resume? What are 2 achievements that you are most proud of? What do you want from MyrLabs? [2 more technical tasks]

MyrLabs’ MD here. The email interactions with the candidate was reviewed and a more pleasant exchange could have been in order. The candidate described MyrLabs’ culture as harsh — and to an extent, that is a fair characterization. Our culture is intentionally built to promote candour, change, sustained excellence, and, to a certain extent, a degree of 'rebelliousness' towards how things 'ought to be done'. This approach can feel intense and is not the right fit for everyone. We make it a point to communicate this openly during our hiring process so that interested candidates can make informed decisions about whether our environment aligns with their working style and values. For accuracy, I would like to clarify one point: MyrLabs does not issue take-home technical tasks. The candidate was instead presented with two hypothetical scenarios designed to understand their problem-solving approach and thought process.
