      Entrevista

The process starts with a few rounds of conference calls. They use Skype as their conferencing infrastructure, which means you need to have the software available. After the couple of rounds of conference calls, they'll ask you to make a presentation using their software and presentation software. Finally, in-person interviews.

They are appropriately focused on the ability to recognize the business value of their technology. Questions revolved around the business use of APIs.

Typical Interview process with recruiter screen, followed by few phone interviews and an on-site interview. The screening process met my expectations but the on-site demonstration required preparing for the demonstration requiring some amount of preparedness.

Several phone interviews. Then they have you come to HQ to give a presentation. If you are from out of town, they will pay for the flight, and claim they will pay for the hotel, but you will arrive with nothing paid for, and have to fight to get reimbursed. (I still haven't been) Before you go, they will say you don't need to know their application, because they will train you once you're hired. They will also say you don't need to know much about API development or middleware, because nobody in the interview expects that, unless you've worked in that space. Then, when you get there for the presentation, they will grill you mercilessly on everything they said wouldn't be asked, and insist that you give them a demo of their product. This wasn't a job interview. It was an ambush.

I already have a SOAP API that works fine, why would I use your product?

I am so sorry about this mixup—this is the first time this has happened, and I'm truly sorry for the trouble this caused. I also apologize if you felt ambushed in the interview. That is certainly not our intention! Our interviews are tough, and we ask probing questions and give direct feedback to get as much out of the interview as possible to evaluate a candidate's fit for the role, and we expect the candidate to do the same with us. I appreciate you taking the time to come in to interview, and for sharing this valuable feedback. Please reach out to me directly if there's anything else I can do.
