I applied through a job board. Had a phone interview and a few in person meetings. The office was beautiful and looked super clean and pristine. It was very quiet and a little warm. They told me they prefer everyone take MARTA which isn’t really good for me as I was recovering from an injury and couldn’t walk long distances. But I heard there was parking I could purchase. The team was incredibly kind, seemed inclusive and highly educated. Everyone was just so nice (minus one person who managed to throw in some snappy, rude commentary my way during a discussion). She also seemed shocked to see me when I arrived. I guess she expected something else. It was a terrible first impression and made me worry the entire company had people with a nasty attitude peppered throughout. But no, everyone else was nice - amazing even. It was a perm role at the time I applied. Things changed as they always do in media. By the time they got around to making the offer I learned I’d been passed on to another team separate from the one with which I initially interviewed. I assumed the rude lady wanted nothing to do with me and I was ok with that. But the parameters of the role had changed drastically. I felt like the new terms were too far from what I originally applied to do there in terms of longevity and advanced opportunities. I still think about the wonderful people I met there. I really liked them and wish that things had turned out differently so I could have joined. There was a tall dark haired lady that I really wanted to work with because it was clear that she understood the industry and she was sooooo nice. There was also a really nice guy who had some digital analytics needs that I looked forward to fulfilling. Had the parameters not changed and had I confirmation that the one team member wasn’t going to harass me or give me dirty looks each day I would have accepted the offer. I declined out of fear of having to tolerate disrespect.
