      Entrevista para Re-Ignite Program

Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 2 meses. Acudí a una entrevista en Moody's (New York, NY) en feb 2019

      Entrevista

A disaster. The 'interview' for their program for people returning to work after a break (and, as at turned out, for diversity hires) was essentially a reception where you sought out Moody's managers in your field (you could tell what field people were in by the color of the name tag they wore) and spoke with them about the firm. If they liked you, you would either be invited back for another interview or just hired straight away (I assume the former, it wasn't very clear though). I was aware of this before attending the interview/reception. I work in a very specialized field and prior to attending, I emailed the HR office to be sure there were openings in my specialty - otherwise, it wouldn't be worth traveling the 5 hours to get there. I was assured there would be people in my line of work to speak with and not to worry about it. When I arrived, it turned out there was ONE person with the name tag for my specialty, and the first thing he told me was that he wasn't actually in that field but was told to wear the tag anyway. There was literally no one in my field and no jobs available. I stayed at the reception speaking with people in other areas and tried to sell myself, but it's difficult to do so when you have no training or experience in an area. Predictably, I did not receive a follow-up call. All in all, I spent 18 hours and over $150 (for train fare, one taxi ride, meals, etc) for an 'interview' where I had no chance at all for success. I will never, ever interview with this company again, and would also advise people to be wary of the 'reception interview' as it seems that at least some people were surprised at the set-up as well as the fact there were two different groups (therefore twice as many people) interviewing at the same time. For that matter, I'm suspicious that some 'returnship' programs actually exist as at least two have emailed me recently that they cancelled this year's program. Obviously not all are like this, but it's very clearly an afterthought for many of the companies.
