I went through 2 non-technical phone interviews, a 5 hour onsite, and a take-home project.
I originally underperformed on the project because it was out of my area of expertise, and was turned down from the job at first. After a few weeks, I emailed the VP and asked for another shot because I felt I could do better and the company felt like a good fit for me. He offered me a contract-to-hire position within 24 hours of that email, which I accepted the following day, while he was apparently interviewing another candidate for the same position. ***After receiving my acceptance of the CTH position***, that other candidate was also offered the job and the VP stalled on sending me the contract saying he was too swamped to get it done by the weekend. The next business day, which was Monday, he followed up with me saying that the other candidate had accepted the role, which was "an unforeseen circumstance," and that they could no longer hire me. I had already turned down one job and another onsite to accept this one...
Be careful interviewing here-- it was disorganized and shady. I think I'll be glad I didn't end up working for these kinds of people in the long run but I've had to completely start over my job search. Don't get burned like I did.

I’m sorry that you had a frustrating experience. We always aim to offer a timely, transparent and informative interview experience for all candidates. Unfortunately, we only had one spot to fill for this role, and we understand the frustration when another candidate is given the position. Thank you for interviewing at Modernize, and please feel free to stay in touch for future opportunities.

Applied on their website and got an e-mail from their recruiter three days later. She set up a phone call with me. The phone call went fine, and then she told me by e-mail the next day that I made it to the next round technical phone screen. I thought great and I started studying. I realized the recruiter hadn't sent me an e-mail confirmation so I e-mailed her back. No answer. Three days later, I got a call from the team lead, and he proceded to give me zero technical questions the entire interview. It was basically another behavioral interview. While on the phone with him, he didn't really seem into the interview. As if he was just doing this because it was already scheduled. He would ask me questions about things I had already explained which made it seem as if he wasn't listening. And he also asked me mostly the same questions as the recruiter! Also, the interview was supposed to last 30 minutes, and I ended up being on the phone with him for an hour. Not sure why when he obviously didn't want to be on the phone. They probably already found someone else for the position. He had told me they'd get back to me in before the week ends, and on the weekend after I waited all week, I e-mailed the recruiter for followup. She quickly e-mailed an auto generated response that I had been rejected. Why waste my time?
