I applied via LinkedIn and a got an email from the HR person a few days later. This email wanted me to answer some basic questions about my previous work experience, my CTC, my current location. (The job was remote but would have included travel).
But one question near the end asked for my personal social media. They also specified, in all caps, that if my Facebook and Instagram were private, I should send screenshots of the account. I found this to be very weird and invasive. After speaking to friends in the industry and confirming that this is not standard practice, I responded that my social media was indeed private and that I intended to keep it that way, but if we ended up working together and I decided to make a public account, I would make sure to inform HR.
After this I received a template rejection. Ofcourse, the rejection could have been due to factors other than me refusing to share my social media but overall this experience left a sour taste in my mouth.
