Entrevista
I was called by a manager at a local Michael's store within 5 days of applying although I did apply during the start of the holiday season. I had an interview roughly 2 days later and was surprised at how pleasant the manager was. The application itself was a bit different from normal applications because it first and foremost asked about my creativity. The interview was short and simple, but i was not offered a job as a seasonal sales associate. The manager had actually paid close attention to my application (you would be surprised how many don't care for minimum wage jobs) and offered me a job as a framer and potentially a teacher for their art classes based on my experience in mathematics and fine arts. I went to Michael's looking for something simple and supplemental to my existing job and was surprised at what was offered. The staring pay in minimum ($7.50 for framers), but it has potential to be much more. It may turn out to be exactly what you are looking for.

The interview was very straightforward and did not have any unexpected or difficult questions. However, I am sure that may vary by manager and location.
Lots of paperwork. Had to fill out a form that asked questions about family utilizing SNAP, benefits, etc which seemed very invasive. A mandatory assessment that asked the same questions over and over. Then silence for weeks. No communication until finally told they aren't recruiting for the role.

After submitting my application, I quickly received a call for an interview. The interview process was smooth and straightforward. The manager I spoke with was incredibly kind, approachable, and personable. She took her time to thoroughly explain the role and responsibilities in great detail, which I greatly appreciated.

Very brief. Big emphasis on availability and whether you’ll also be available to work the store’s truck shift— if you’re able to, you’re more than likely going to be picked over someone who can’t. You’ll asked if you have reliable transportation, a little about yourself and any retail experience, whether you’re comfortable asking customers to sign up for rewards and apply for the credit card, and you have to understand after a certain date it’s blackout so you can’t call out. So if you’re unable to work Black Friday or have vacation days planned already for Oct, Nov & Dec. you won’t be picked. Which is understandable because it’s peak season and that’s the main reason they’re hiring you. If you choose to be kept on, you have an opportunity for a pay increase.
