30 mins conversation with the recruiting team to discuss on my qualifications and motivations for the role ( I have more than 15 yrs exp and already taking home more than what is budgeted for this role). However happy with challenge (over $) and proceed to next step
A screening interview is scheduled next, with an analyst and someone who is 2 years fresh out of college and an SQL test. Both doesn’t makes sense to me, the test and interview seems like hiring for an analyst and seeking a certain answer out of a book instead of discussing accomplishments, experiences, people management and test deeper more complex subject matter such as data architecture, platform design and concepts
If this is how managerial positions are hired, I’m stating to doubt their leadership and operations (trimmed fb from my investment portfolio) - I known many superstars managers/architects who’ve built world class engineering teams but they’ll fail at the same interview stage. A silver lining, the recruitment team is great, responsive and perhaps different fb teams have different hiring methods
