About 2 in person interviews and 2 phone interviews. Not as long as Edward Jones hiring process. Sometimes it seemed forever for the recruiter to get back in touch with you after the application process and the first phone interview but as I stuck with it, it because more streamlined and efficient.

I recently went through the interview process for the Financial Solutions Advisor role at Merrill, and while I appreciated the opportunity, I found several aspects to be concerning.
The initial HR pre-screen was fairly straightforward. They made it clear that this is not a permanent position and that you'd eventually transition to a full commission structure. This aspect wasn't surprising, but it’s important to know upfront.
The next step involved a Webex interview with a market leader. This part felt more like a review of my resume rather than an in-depth evaluation of my skills or investment knowledge. There was a clear focus on sales—specifically, they wanted to know about my network and centers of influence to generate business for the company. It felt less like a conversation about financial advisory and more like a sales pitch.
In the early stages, they provided bank leads, but I found these to be a compliance nightmare. This could potentially lead to challenges down the line, especially for someone new to the role.
The final interview was with the market executive, who struck me as quite pessimistic. He seemed to lack enthusiasm and came across as someone who believes he's doing better than he actually is. This attitude was off-putting and made me question the overall culture of the team.
Overall, if you're looking for a role focused on sales without a strong emphasis on investment knowledge, this could be a fit. However, I would advise potential candidates to approach with caution, considering the mixed signals about the role and the leadership dynamics.
2 interviews, fairly straightforward, possibly will give you a “simulation “ to take later but this was a while back and therefore may have changed the process. At that time they were looking for you to rush through the simulation to pass and not take too luch time between calls
Introductory screening interview before proceeding to the second Merrill Lynch interview. There was a primary interview with a 3rd party headhunting company. Interview process was scheduled very quickly which I prefer. They are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit with their series 7 and 66.
