I cold applied for a PM role at Mastercard and was scheduled for a screening with a recruiter. The initial call was quick—just a basic screen covering my background, interest in the role, and some high-level questions. The recruiter mentioned there would be four rounds in total, including a technical round, so I spent days prepping.
The hiring manager ended up rescheduling the interview three times, and when we finally confirmed a date and time, the interviewer didn’t show up. No communication or follow-up. I waited on the call and followed up afterward, only to be met with silence for three days before receiving a generic rejection email.
It was incredibly frustrating to be treated so carelessly. It left a bad impression and made it clear they didn’t value candidates' time.
