One of the strangest interviews I have ever taken part of. I applied online and within 24 hours had been selected for a phone screen. Was called a day early for my phone screen and was caught off guard. The interviewer admitted that it was their mistake and we would talk the same time the following day. I received my call the next day, 20 minutes late.
During the initial application was asked the standard background questions (residence, education, etc.) Fast forward to the phone screen and I can hear the interviewer pull out a piece of paper to ask these questions again and mark off their sheet. This was not conversational at all, more like filling out a questionnaire with your doctor. I was asked about my background and was then asked if I had any questions about the role. I had plenty of questions that I wanted answers to. Unfortunately, the interviewer could not answer a single question about the role or process. After being unable to answer my questions, I was then asked “for {their} own knowledge” what does continuing education and licensing consist of. She then throws in at the end of the call that she forgot to include a required second license to the posting in order to be considered for the role, which I do not have. I was later emailed that that specific license was a requirement and could not be considered for the role.
Tough to gauge role/fit when the company recruiters do not have a working knowledge of roles, company, or process.
