Met with Executive Director and was hired on the spot. She "got" me and hired me in a lot of faith. I think she knew I was very capable given my cast experience, but wanted to check my values. Upon meeting me, I think she picked up that I am very purpose driven and would care about the students and the school, and she was right. She was criticized for not having a more thorough process - in hindsight, she perhaps should have launched a formal search. But there wasn't time and she is a seasoned woman, and trusted her instincts, accurately. Currently the interview process at Mackintosh is much more thorough, with screening phone calls, and in person interviews, at least a half of a day, with the new Head and a committee. It is very well done and very professional. My circumstances were unusual.
