El proceso tomó 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en MGM Resorts International (Las Vegas, NV) en jun 2010

      Entrevista

The process is very formal. A long, formal application must be filled out for a specific position. When you are called for an interview, it is more a "screening". Dress very formal and conservative; HR at this company is very traditional. Once you pass the screening, you go on to meet the hiring manager, and often the entire team you will be working with and feedback will be solicited from everyone. Education is not the most valued asset. Job skills are valued, and especially experience in the Casino industry, or at the very least, hospitality. Depending on the department and/or property, the level of formality and number of interviews goes on and is then driven more by that individual departments' culture. Mine is at corporate, so it is very formal. To go into training, even if not as a trainer, because you may need to sub for a trainer, the process always includes a presentation piece in front of a panel, and watch out - that panel may include your VP! Don't ham it up too much, again, formal, traditional, corporate HR is the audience - so fun is good, but in moderation, and appropriate because we train everyone - from line level employees up through the tallest ranks in leadership (there is a leadership academy here as well). Personality is a big part - can you get along with many different types of people? Ultimately, the person who has the right combination of passion, professionalism, friendliness, and the subject matter expert gets hired. It helps to have read the latest books, gone to the latest seminars, and be up on the latest trends. The interviewing department has been so entrenched in the "doing" portion of the job that sometimes, continuing education gets overlooked, so if you know all the new stuff, you are an asset. Just don't boast - it could come across as threatening to those in your presence that have been in their jobs for 5-10 years and have not kept up (because they have been busing do-ing). Computer skills test. Background check. Hair drug test (ladies, be prepared to lose some locks). Lengthy processing, new hire orientation, and onboarding. Slow to get any kind of computer access, phone setup, etc. You won't be officially in the fabric of things and into existence for at least a few months. But, all in all a great company to work for with many loyal employees who have worked here since opening day for many, many properties and divisions.
