6 years ago a check I wrote for less than $25 bounced . I was out of town on assignment for 3 weeks and didn't know of this until I returned. I made good on it right away, but the place I wrote the check had already called the county attorney. So I paid a $60 fine. They made me an offer, I accepted and then the background check turned up this misdemeanor I had totally forgotten about. No opportunity to explain. No appeal. Job denied. Just a heads up.
