The initial phone interview with the recruiter went well, asking standard questions. The subsequent phone interview with the head of Product Management was disappointing. The interview was cut short, as he called several minutes late. Then asked for me to summarize my experience while he looked for his headphones. He only asked a few, fairly broad questions (what is the importance of design, how many direct reports do you have right now). I was allowed to ask a couple of questions. After telling me that our time was up, he told me that he thought the position would be too much of a stretch for me and asked if I would be open to a different position. I was surprised, unsure how he assessed that seeing as he didn't ask any questions pertaining directly to the role and there wasn't time to ask why he came to that conclusion. However, I said that I would be happy to be considered for any position that I was a good fit for. Three days later, I received a standard email telling me my application was not selected for the position and have heard nothing since.
