I applied for the position internally as I am currently an employee at Lowe's. I have one and a half years of prior experience in the department I applied for. Typically, if you apply to a position internally there is only one interview needed per person and only three applicants are chosen for interviews. I was interviewed by my Store Manager and Human Resources Manager. I know I am more than capable of succeeding in the management position I applied for as I completed and passed the requirements of the management training offered by Lowe's (one must also apply and be selected for that), I worked in the department previously in my career, and I was also used as an interim in this desired position earlier in my career at Lowe's. I am currently a Sales Specialist in Appliances and was beat out by an employee who happened to hold the same job title as I, but in another store. I am in good standing with the company and store management and I have worked in this store for six years. I have interviewed for five positions in this store and I was chosen two times. The three positions I was not selected for were department manager twice, and product service associate once. All of my interviews were positive experiences and I've learned a little from each opportunity. Of all my interviews, I feel there was only once that I was not qualified for the position (department manager; had been employed for roughly one year at the time of the interview and had no previous management experience). The questions posed to me during the interview were mainly situation based, i.e. "What would you do when..." I was also asked general questions regarding tenure at Lowe's and positions held. Having been in this store for six years, I have seen many people come and go and I've learned the pattern of this store's hiring process and behavior. It has slowly moved away from putting a great importance on hiring the most qualified applicant to hiring the most convenient applicant. Five job openings in the past year were either filled by an applicant from another Lowe's, filled by an associate from our store whose previous position was eliminated, or not filled at all. It could be just coincidence and the applicants selected were truly the most qualified for the position. Having read this far, I'm sure you can figure out my opinion on that matter.

Straight forward normal interview had questions about how I'd manage x amount of team members with x amounts of experience. but overall very basic interview with only differing questions on management styles/policy guidelines.
