I received an email from Launch Darkly expressing their interest in interviewing me for a Product Designer role. It said my experience was impressive and I could be a good fit. I responded to the email and scheduled the first interview call. Two hours before the scheduled interview, the calendar event was cancelled and I received an email that lacked tact and left me with a bad feeling about how this team operates. It said "I don't think it's as good of a fit as we'd originally hoped, so I'm cancelling your call..." I did not reach out the Launch Darkly for this position, they reached out to me and then changed their mind without even talking to me. This was not a good experience and I would not entertain the thought of working for this company again.

This interview was a poor, unprofessional experience from the start. I scheduled a time with the hiring manager 2 days prior to my interview. At the time of the phone call, he was late, which is no problem at all, but the way the rest of the interview went, I'll count it as a red flag. His first question to me was how I felt about the company -- how would I describe the product. Since I had done extensive research and had known about LaunchDarkly, I gave my answer. His response was weird and when I asked if I was on the right track, he was unable to describe the company to me himself. He stumbled a lot and it was as if he had no idea who he worked for. He essentially just quoted me and said "that sounds about right" The whole experience was off. He was dismissive when I spoke, I could tell he was not giving me his undivided attention and it was like he couldn't wait for me to stop talking so he could move on. Even though we had scheduled our interview a few days in advance, he asked me rudely where my portfolio was, questioned if I had even submitted one (I did) and went on to say that him and his fellow hiring managers were discussing the whereabouts of my portfolio! He could have emailed me even 30 minutes before our conversation if I indeed hadn't submitted it. Even though he had reached out to me for an interview, he made a remark on my years of experience. Knowing this might come up, I had come prepared with other open positions at the company that I would be interested in. At this time I knew he wanted the conversation to be over and when I mentioned the final job opening, he LAUGHED. He was very condescending in asking me what made me think I was qualified for that position. My response? I went through every bullet point and described my expertise to that skill. Overall, incredibly rude, unprofessional, and seeing the amount of poor interview reviews here, I can't help but imagine if they were all with this same person, or this is just the practice of the company. Disappointing. "
