I had one phone call with the recruiter before passing my resume over to the Director of Engineering who wanted to talk with me the next day. The phone call was about my interest in the fole. The recruiter and the online job description described the role as a Tech Lead role for the back-end. However, after talking to the Director, it was clear that it was NOT a Tech Lead role. The title would still be a Senior Software Engineer, as I was told they don't have real Tech Leads or Architects. As a "Tech Lead" I told them I wanted to be able to make Technical Decisions, to which they said that those decisions were already made.
Although no offer was made, I am glad I dodge a bullet and decided to NOT move forward with this position. After reviewing the bad reviews of this company, I am definitely glad I made that decision. It seems like they have quite a but of turnover at this company, and really are trying to struggle going to Java and Spring Boot Microservices from Ruby on Rails. All I can say is good luck to them, and avoid them ....
