The interview process would be for the most part your regular process, except for a shadow experience and a project. In the past I have not accepted free working projects, nor unpaid work, as the salary they are compensating for this role is low. I was willing to do so, as I wanted to get my foot in the door working in real estate, and my marketing background does not currently align there. I applied knowing the description says “real estate knowledge would be a plus”. I feel I was mislead from the beginning and asking for unpaid work puts a bad taste in your mouth. Considering you go to through hours of interviews, in person work, all to not be given an offer i believe the company does not value anyone’s time. The shadow experience itself also did not give a comprehensive understanding of what your day-to-day would look like in the role however they are more concerned with the project you put time into. Asking for graphics, feedback on properties, and mock listing. A large portion of their conversation was more concerned about what they were eating for lunch and gossiping, which i understand not all office chat needs to be about work but it was hard to concentrate on the project at hand when they’re going on about who knows what. Lastly, I was told they were going with someone already down the pipeline and I feel that is just inconsiderate given the hours you put into their interview process. A more detailed explanation with constructive feedback would at least mean they have a specific reason. Very disappointed in this company and feel many others will be.
