      Solicitud

Me postulé a través de una recomendación de un empleado. El proceso tomó 2 meses. Acudí a una entrevista en Investec (Londres, Inglaterra)

      Entrevista

The interview process was drawn out and lengthily, Started on 27/03/2018 and literally only ended today as in 29/05/2018 when they called me to withdraw my offer. First was an Exploratory Interview, second was an interview with HR and third was with the Head of department. Throughout the process Investec were really dragging their heels and were not great at keeping me updated, I would often have to chase for feedback and the department dealing with this were a bit sloppy. The second interview I would describe it as a grilling, they asked experience and work related questions, and gave me scenarios. Asked me if I had any criminal records or CCJ’s which I did not and at no point did they ask me about personal debts. After my third interview with the Head of department I was made a job offer about a week later which I accepted. They said I could not start until my CRB came back, so I was advised to start the background screening with Verifile . I got on quickly with my background screening as I was keen to start, My CRB came back clear 2 days later. I then got an email on 17/05/2018 to say they had some questions on my background screening and would call me the following day. The next day I took the call as scheduled with two members of HR . They then mentioned at the second interview they did ask me if anything would be flagged up, to which I responded I answered honestly as I did not have any CCJ'S or any criminal records. They then started probing my personal finances asking about personal debts which is quite frankly irrelevant, I openly said yes I have two personal debts which are only together about £1400 and they then started asking me so many questions over my personal debts such as am I paying them, am I aware and dealing with them etc and were acting like I was wrong , As far as I am concerned I am going for a receptionist role I am not handling money and even if I was I don't believe you have to disclose personal debts. They then said I had been flagged up on the fraud database CIFAS who are a private non profit organisation acting against fraud but could not tell me anything further, I was stunned at this point as I have worked for an investment bank before and passed all my background checks with no problem, and I know I have done nothing wrong. Since doing lots of research I discovered lots of people where they have been put on this database wrongly, and subsequently had their lives ruined by this marker. Of course no one would know they have a CIFAS marker against them as CIFAS are under no obligation to tell you. I asked during the phone call what this means for my job, they advised they will give me time to give my own explanation once I get my SAR back from CIFAS and would collectively as a company decide and make a decision and they gave me details of CIFAS and I went and made my SAR request which I had to pay for in order to find out what information they hold on me. I was under the impression this meant I would have time to get my response from CIFAS give INVESTEC an explanation and potentially salvage my job. Clearly not the case as I got a phone call today 29/05/2018 telling me my offer has been withdrawn and they were so eager they called me twice 10 minutes apart (Clearly could not wait to tell me fantastic news), I am quite confident there was never a standing chance for me as they made their choice on 18/05/2018 and already knew they would be withdrawing my offer but wanted to make it seem like they were a decent fair organisation which they are not. I have no idea the reasons for this marker, what I do know is its false and I will obviously prove this in due time and have it removed and more than likely take legal action against the company who put it there for all the stress and financial loss. What I do know is Investec have treated me quiet poorly during this process and have not given me a fair chance and personally I believe they are discriminating against me because I have personal debts. During the four times I travelled there and spent over £50 in travel which has annoyed me, I spoke to a few people in the departments I would have been working in and to be frank they didn't have the best of things to say about Investec which was a slight pre warning of how they treat staff. They made me believe I had a chance because of course I knew I was innocent in all of this and there had been some mistake with this marker, and then they took the chance away and just withdrew my offer so coldly. They told me to keep them updated with my SAR request, well what for they could not even wait one week before withdrawing my offer, clearly they did not care for me to update them, They just wanted to appear to be fair so I don't come back and try to pursue legal action against them.

Thanks for the feedback on your interview experience. As a bank we have to take our background screening very seriously for any role.
