Short phone interview. I was asked if I was still searching for a job and what kind of jobs I’m looking for. Answered but the lady seemed to not understand what FORTRAN was or Comptia Sec+. Shortly after, the phone call ended. All I can say is, it’s becoming very annoying getting calls from this company.

The interview process started off great and straight to the point. 1 phone interview, then I was told 3 more interviews are an expected part of the process. The second interview was conducted through google teams. I was told by the Talent Acquisition specialist that it was all about getting to know me as a candidate and to also have questions prepared. The interviewer was fun and personable, she invited me in for what I thought was the 3rd round in person interview. When I arrived I was told it was my 2nd round interview? This is when things hit the fan. I was told by the Talent Acquisition specialist that I would be shadowing a Pro Recruiter for 30 minutes, an Account manager for 30 minutes and then meet with the original person I had interviewed with a day prior. ThePro Recruiter was kind but unprepared to ask me questions and seemed like he didn’t know what to ask. He then walked me around the office where I met his colleagues. I was then greeted by an account manager who was extremely unprepared. When I asked him “what about my resume stood out to you the most?” His response was “ I didn’t even look at it, honestly, I look through tons of resume daily”… The last portion of the interview was terribly unorganized and uncomfortable. There were no questions prepared for me, so the interviewers continued to ask me if I had any questions, basically pushing me, the interviewee to lead the interview. I was confused because my in person interview was the complete opposite of the interaction I had with the hiring manager via google teams. They were also late coming in for lunch as well as ran over my time by an 1 hour and 30 minutes. It seemed as though they had another candidate in mind and to save face, continued with the interview although a decision had already been made. Lastly, one of insight Global’s values are “diversity and inclusion” when I asked the interviewer how she prioritized this during her hiring process she answered with how the CEO made everyone log out for the day and join a forum to discuss the George Floyd tragedy. It was a kind act and nice to know…but she did not answer my question..at all. I am mentioning this because my walk around the office was predominately white with very few black or POC. Everyone who is at a managerial level is white. My theory based on my research is that Insight Global does promote within as long as you are white or at least white passing. All in all, based on my experience the hiring process is unorganized and extremely misleading. They emphasize how they want to recruit recent graduates with sales and customer service experience and become their foot in the door of the corporate world. Yet with all their requirements checked off they will still decline a hiring offer. I even received feedback from the Talent acquisition specialist that said the interviewer exclaimed how well spoken and professional I was. I recognize how others experiences may be different with insight global but as a black woman I know when a decision is made based on my race and I do believe the final decision was based on the color of my skin and my hair. I have soft locs in and the interviewers would not look me in the eyes but would glance at my hair and my nails. Take a look on insight Global’s LinkedIn and observe the number of white employees versus the number of black people and POC hired. I’m not saying there aren’t any, but it is seldom and obvious that diversity and inclusion is not a value of theirs but simply for decoration on their site. Starting salary is 37k by the way. You can receive commission but you won’t receive it until 6 months with the company, but they won’t tell you that unless you ask.
