      Entrevista

TL;DR: They treat you as a human being, and not a coding machine. The entire interview process focuses on the skills and expertise you are bringing to the table, and not on solving simple coding questions. I applied through the website and got an immediate call by the recruiter. This was followed by a technical phone-screen with one of the lead developers. The screen focused on areas that I had worked on and more importantly the areas that they were working on. After that they flew me out to their Seattle office for 1:1s. Had 5 1:1 interviews, each of them focusing on my skills and experience. I would describe the interviews as more of a collaborative discussion session, with the interviewers asking questions about my experience, tying it to relevant problems that they were working on, and discussing how I might resolve these issues. The interview atmosphere was relaxed and professional, they seemed to be genuinely interested in what I had to offer in terms of skills, knowledge and experience. There were a few technical questions that were asked, but the focus was not on the solution, rather it was on how I approached the problem and my general thought process. The interview was challenging. The interviewers knew their stuff, they had deep knowledge of the areas that they worked on, the questions were on point and extremely relevant. You cannot bluff through this kind of interview if you don't have the skills and expertise to back you up. Got an offer within a week.

Me postulé en línea. Acudí a una entrevista en Impinj (Seattle, WA)

      Entrevista

Was invited to networking event at Seattle office. Met with several engineers that seemed keen on interviewing me, and I had really enjoyed meeting them and seeing the office and getting to know their products. This is right up my wheelhouse. It wasn't until a MONTH later that I was asked to do a phone screen. The phone screen mostly talked about my current role, which isn't relevant. I had wanted to return to do embedded systems work, and I have some experience in that, but was never asked about it. I was never asked to write any code, which I'm confident I'm able to do. I never heard back from the interviewer or recruiter, and after ANOTHER MONTH the application on the online portal was closed. I would have appreciate it if I was at least notified within a timely manner that I would not be moving on. I would like to thank Impinj for this egregious behavior, because I was able to get a Google offer instead.
