The process was efficient and respectful of time. There was a one-way video screen, a hiring manager interview, and a panel interview. There was also an exercise. I felt really good about the people and organization.
However, at the end stage, there was an "informal" meet and greet with mostly new people that was designed for culture fit. I felt it introduced bias unnecessarily. And sure enough, after believing I cdrushed every interview, the role was given to someone who seemed underqualified according to their LinkedIn. I was left feeling that perhaps it was age discrimination -- because the differences in experience and achievements and demonstrated ability to do the job were so stark.
It was a learning experience for me. If an organizations talks a lot about culture and team fit, they're looking for a friend, not a colleague. They are not looking for stellar results, but comfort.
Oh and after all that, they sent an automated rejection. Classless.
