      Entrevista

It seemed like I was going to fly right in like a teflon-coated sausage, but I declined further negotiations, as the person handling the initial stage of recruitment told general details which I took kinda as red flags when reflecting them against the job ad itself. They were going to book a time for me with the people from the dev team, but I was afraid I'm going to waste their time, and additionally, in worst case, make them feel bad about their jobs. Here's my train of thought, which I really really hope to be wrong about: 1: Salary range capped at 6000€/mo -> no incentives for self-development, if one gets hired with the already-maxed out salary ----> little to none of motivation stemming from just building and maintaining generic .NET web apps 2: They have a 50% office attendance requirement -> How did this happen to begin with? Were developers doing less results on full-remote? Why? Is the work not motivating enough? -> "Well, hey, it's nice to see and spend time with your colleagues" has a nice tone, but as a sentiment, has no basis in this line of work 3: Why do they need _more_ seniors for just doodling generic web apps? -> Is the codebase/process/stuff really a mess of _that_ magnitude? -> Are there lots of juniors to herd or micromanage? -> With the job description and especially the salary range mentioned, why don't they just hire enthusiastic mid-levels? -> If there's something else involved than just generic web apps and integrations, then why not mention them in the ad? Like, what's really the actual beef between the buns in this job? It can't be just that. 4. They claimed to provide a very competitive set of employee benefits, but are in fact not on-par even with the "mid tier" sw dev positions. Surely they aren't deliberately lying, so (why) are they misinformed? -> Does the org management have any adequate insight of this field of industry? -> Is sw development generalized to as just another "office work"? If so, then I wonder how other ways this generalization would manifest itself in the everyday life of a developer in If.
