Me postulé en línea. Acudí a una entrevista en IXL Learning en oct 2012
Entrevista
I sent my resume to IXL and I received an email requesting a "writing sample" which was specific, and exactly what they were hiring for - this is a dishonest harvesting practice, asking every applicant for a "sample" and hiring no one. This is what they wrote to me:
IXL Learning: Content Writer Interview Questions
You are writing content for a third-grade grammar skill about common and proper nouns. Each problem
will include one sentence. Students will identify the nouns in the sentence and classify each noun as
common or proper.
Please write 15 sample sentences based on the instructions below.
Instructions
? Sentences should be written at a third-grade level.
? Each sentence should have between three and five nouns, including at least one proper noun
and one common noun.
? Avoid nouns that might be unfamiliar to third graders.
? Stick to concrete nouns, i.e. nouns that are obviously people, places, or things; as one resource
describes it, concrete nouns are nouns that you can detect with one of your five senses.
? Don't write sentences with verbs that "scream" noun, like "Jane plans to book a DJ for her
event" or "Jane has been hired to pen a book."
? Don't write sentences with nouns that "scream" verb, like "Play is important for young children"
or "Jane is going on a run."
? "Flexible" nouns and verbs are OK as long as their use is clear from context, like "Jane wants to
become a cook" and "Jane plans to cook dinner."
? Avoid nouns used as adverbs, like "Jane plans to make dinner Wednesday." Instead, try "on
Wednesday."
? Your sentences should contain a variety of nouns (don’t use the same three nouns in every
sentence).
Sample sentence
Alligators live in ponds and rivers in the United States and China.

Pregunta 1
They wanted 15 sentences, with a specified number of verbs, at a third grade level. In other words, they were gathering "samples" from each applicant. The National Writers' Union urges writers NOT to fall for this sort of scam.
The initial interview was fairly easy. About 3 to 4 questions were asked and could easily be answered. Interviewer responded to all of my questions and a timeline was provided. A sample assessment had to be completed but if you do not move onto the next round then no Feedback is provided
