First telephone interview
-Questions about motivation, what kind of experience I have which make me suitable for this position
Second Interview with group leader
- Technical questions about programming and machine learning, again motivation, what steps I did to prepare myself to become a Data Scientist in banking.
Third interview
- even more technical, at the end of the interview the interviewee receives a case he/she has to solve and present to the group in the fourth interview
Fourth interview: presentation of the case and how you solved it in front of the entire group.
Fifth: Salary discussion with group leader and manager.

They discontinued with me after the 2nd round therefore I can only state questions asked in the first two rounds.
1. Round:
- Why do you want to work at ING
- Had you previous experience in Finance
2nd Round:
The second round was with the group leader and one senior person. They asked me only about my experience in software engineering and machine learning.
- Are you familiar with GitHub, do you have a GitHub account?
- What are the most recent trends in Machine Learning?
- How do you keep up with updates in the world of Machine Learning?
- How did you prepare yourself for the transition from Academia to ING (banking)? Did you do any additional online courses?
- Explain the Random Forest algorithm?
- At each node of a Random Forest, how is decided which feature is the most discriminative?
- What is model overfitting?
- How can you prevent a Random Forest from overfitting?
- What are the underlying assumptions of a logistic regressor?
- Why are correlations between independent variables bad?
Firstly it was a test. Couple of months later I've had a call with manager and later with direct product owner. It has taken 2-3 weeks for final answer and enrollment.

The interview process was smooth and well-structured, with technical questions that gradually increased in difficulty. This approach made the discussion feel comfortable, engaging, and gave me the chance to showcase my skills step by step.

The process had several rounds. It comprised an initial online tech assessment (some multiple choice questions and a sql and python exercise), HR chat, personality interview, case study and one final chat.
The case study was a take-home assignment to be discussed in an hour interview.
Overall they were professional and kind.
