I applied online for IHOP and received a call back within 3 days from the assistant manager to set up an interview time and date. When I got to the location for my interview I was briefly greeted by the assistant manager and was asked to wait for just a minute. About 30 minutes later she came back and brought me to a table and after some shuffling through a small stack of applications, we found mine and began the interview. First, she told me that normally she isn't the one who interviews people. In fact, this was her first time. The manager who carries out the interviews was "sick", even though I was told otherwise on the phone before I came. Anyways, the interview was a very relaxed and there were very few questions, if any at all. For the most part, I was told about dress code, job expectations, and training. I would say the "interview" lasted about 20 minutes, ending with being given an apron and name tag and asked to come back in a few days for orientation, which was just a 4 hour long video about IHOP procedures and customer service.
