Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 4 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Hypertec (Montreal, QC)

      Entrevista

In general was a positive experience. However, some details obtained at the interview make me wonder about the type of management applied. For example: 1. The job post says that you should bring "strategic vision" but when you ask why they do what they do the answer is because the owners have some ideas. A very vague answer which means money is the only reason. That is fine but there is nothing strategic in just following the money approach and there is no sense in expecting that from a candidate. 2. They talked about all the cool inventions that have been done and the big money involved but there's no training or development plan for you. So, that big money goes nowhere near your professional improvement. 3. They offer a "collaborative environment". When you ask about it, the intention is to have a person working more or less all the aspects of one project in an isolated manner. They describe the opportunity to exchange with colleagues as very limited. 4. They make some obvious clarifications like; "we engage in projects to deliver" which is a little bit redundant and it is open to some interpretations. For example; If a manager is 100% sure that a challenge is achievable, that means that when reality and facts work otherwise, the employee will be the person to blame. 5. During the process, they repeat that the manager does not accept no as an answer, meaning; critical thinking is not so welcome. They are probably looking for a person with the same personality as the manager. 6. They ask for specific knowledge and experience but then they ask you about random subjects such as electrochemistry, inorganic chemistry, or theoretical questions linked to engineering. - Clarification. they can ask whatever they want, however, they claim to look for a person with real practical experience, and any person that has enough experience in one field knows that you do not probably remember all the theoretical aspects of your career or linked subjects (even implicitly using it on daily basis). In conclusion; if mental health is more valuable than money for you. My advice is to go deeper into the questions that clarify this subjects.
