I have to admit the whole recruitment process was quick (unsure about efficient - but that's hard to be). So I think this is a big plus. Based on some of the decisions its also a very smart recruitment process.
I applied to two roles I believed I would be suitable for. The day after I received two emails for an online interview with HireVue. However a few hours after that I received a rejection email for one of the jobs I had applied for.
This was confusing at first but I carried on preparing for the other job I had applied for. Some negative points here was that there wasn't a real deadline presented within the email. It just said they would like me to do it "today" so they can proceed as soon as possible.
Considering that I am in work and do not check my emails every hour, by the time I received it, it was dark so I prepared for my interview to do the next day when daylight was available. I'm not sure if this affected my outcome. The interview itself was okay. HireVue was very easy to get through and I appreciated the work put into it. I prepared for much tougher and job-specific questions but they were very general and vague questions and some questions about my expectations and notice period.
On reflection, I believe this interview is really just a glorified cover letter, with a chance to see what applicants look like before bringing them in. I had around 1 minute to answer each question so not really time for a lot of detail. So you need to think quick and choose your words wisely. Additionally, it's not 5 minutes, with the videos and each step it can take much longer. HireVue recommends dedicating around 40 minutes or so, which I agree.
I believe the interview process is smart because automatically you feel you get positive feedback from the idea you've been invited for an interview, which makes for a happy interviewee. I suppose it's really just a stop-gap in case they're unsure about you/your CV. Fair. Either way I appreciate that it was an easy and fast process.
