      Entrevista

I had my resume referred in through someone I know that works at Hubspot for the Account Executive position and a had a phone interview about a week later. A little about me, I am a recent MBA grad, with 3+ years B2B experience, currently an Account Manager. Here are some of the Pros about the process: Respectful Organized Timely Transparent And here are the Cons: Based on my perspective of the recruiting experience, I truly believe something is broken in the process. While, they have been able to attain a certain quality of employee, it seems to be treading towards finding cookie cutter candidates as they expand. They're recruiting team and general Hubspot employee population is by far the most homogenous group of individuals I have ever seen in an organization. Which leads me to the interview; though it wasn't bad, it was NOT good. The first thing I noticed is that she asked if I applied through "Indeed," rather than the referral. She was very respectful, yet impersonal throughout the process and seemed be It felt like recruiter was trying to dissuade me from the job (almost as if she already knew she wasn't going to move me through the process even before we spoke). She asked my current salary and stated that this role would pay less and I told her that compensation is not may main focus in moving into this role, yet she emphasized the point again. She advised me that as I am an Account Manager, that the role I was interviewing for was more of a hunter role that required more cold calling. I told her that I hunted more in my previous role as Account Executive and I would gladly do it again as I was very effective. Yet, she mentioned it may be a concern, when I asked her for feedback. There was nothing about the interview that focused on behaviors and successes. Every question was a regarding a task and seemed robotic. I don't believe there was enough balance in getting a feel for the personality of the candidate and what makes them who they are, which would be good for Hubspot. Anyone can be taught how to do a task, but behaviors generally require practice and sacrifice. There needs to be more balance in getting to know behaviors and competency amongst candidates. In sales, behaviors can often be more important knowing how to process and/or access systems. The fact that the recruiting team is so void of diversity, in my opinion signifies a larger diversity problem at Hubspot and at that point I knew I didn't want to work there. Their recruitment team needs some changes...

Hi there, I'm terribly sorry that you had a negative experience with our team here. Diversity is something we're passionate about at HubSpot, and the last thing we want is for the candidate experience or our funnel to look or feel cookie cutter in any way, shape or form. I'd love to hear more about your experience and use it as an opportunity for our team to learn what we can do better. If you're comfortable, please reach out to me at beckym at hubspot dot com and we can set up some time to chat. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks for sharing your experience and helping us get better. -Becky

Super friendly people. Direct and they genuinely believe in adding strong people to their team. I had 2 rounds after which I was rejected. It’s definitely a nice company to be at. They also encourage to keep trying.
