I applied online via my University and I was accepted. We had a meeting where we were briefed about he program. Then later on, more information was needed for getting Invitation letters from China. When my age was communicated, I was declined the trip because I was over 30 years old.

I was interviewed with three people through Wemeeting, a Huawei cloud meeting app. They all asks various of questions mostly about my background and experiences. It is done professionally with a friendly tone.
