      Entrevista

** LOW-BALLER / TIME WASTING ** Reached out by the HR for basic screening, asking for my background, skill sets, as well as my expected package. Shortlisted and first round of interview proceeded. First round was pretty easy, the nterview allowed me to understand more about the company and the project relates to this position. I would say the questions he asked was simple and straigh-forward and he seems isn't that knowledgable to come out with more challenging questions. Lots of uncertainties and unconfidences when it came to Q&A regarding their approaches of the new project. Perhaps he might not even know which candidates suits the position well. Anyways, I was then successfully came into the second and the last round. He is an experienced guy. He asked me alot about my daily job routine, backgrounds and skill sets. Undoubtly, he even managed to rephrase back all my elaboration based on his understanding. Very knowledgable guy I would say, and he don't even mind to hire a candidate without the technologies that his company is using. During the interview, he even indirectly gave me an offer, by asking the HR (who was also in the meeting with us) about my expected package. I was then received the call from the HR the next day, with a good and bad news. Good news being I was selected and wanted to give me an offer; bad news being they actually DONT HAVE THE BUDGET!!! Hilarious right!?? I questioned the HR and he mentioned he did aware about my package (if so, why do you still shortlist me?) HOWEVER I am not the perfect match (but I was their first choice!) and by providing me with such package, there will be a gap between the existing employees! Oh my!!! I felt horrible and sorry to the entire team that they are being LOWBALLED by this company all the time! It seems to be my fault causing the salary gaps!!! By the way, the budget for the senior position is just roughly equivalent between a fresh grad and 2 years exp guy. Hilarious I would say. The candidate they are looking for is a 5+ year senior but their poor budget can only afford to hiring a fresh grad or junior. It was really disappointing and a shame for such a big Japanese MNC to react so in hiring process. Here my advise for those who are looking for an offer - just reject it whenever they try to lowball you, if you are not desperate for a job; for existing emplyees, do look around outside and you will definately find a better value rather than staying there. UPDATE: HR contacted me a week later, saying there was an opening that suit me, with a decent budget. Verbal offer was done however at very last minute, the company decided to withdraw back the offer by the preference of promoting someone internally. Being fooled by this company twice. Deeply disappointed.
