      Entrevista

      Applied online and received a call the next day during which an interview was scheduled for the next day. The interview was very brief, primarily because the job title and job description as advertised did not align with what the job actually turned out to be. As you can see by the job title, applicants might reasonably believe this is a technical role. The job description supported this expectation. However, upon arriving for the interview I was informed that the role is actually moving and building furniture. There were two failures here. First, as someone who has been a hiring manager in the past, it is important for managers to do some pre-screening on the phone. In a pre-screen, the job is explained in a bit more detail to the applicant giving both applicant and manager a chance to determine if there is at least an initial fit between the position and the applicant's goals. No such pre-screening was performed by the hiring manager in this case. The 2nd failure was my own. I should have used the phone call to do some pre-screening of my own. The result was wasted time for us both. There is a valuable lesson on communication here.
