I had an interview with Jason, the company owner, for a property manager position. I showed up, and he wanted to start with me filling out a questionnaire which he stated is designed for small business owners to help determine the character of someone, because character is what makes or breaks a working relationship, not skills, which can be taught. So he left me to it and came back. Went over it. Number 17 asked my goals, for which I put that I’d like to start my own firm someday. He said he was going to stop the interview right there, because he doesn’t want someone who would steal his clients or have to compete against someone he mentored. No discussion which would have revealed that I have no desire to own a firm in the area he chose, and I’ve never stolen a client, nor betrayed any of my employers. Shocked and amazed at how paranoid he must be.

The interview process was essentially a screening to see if I am okay with the owners political beliefs. He holds meetings once a week where all employees must listen to his right wing beliefs and religious statements. Owner states that he doesnt care if people dont like his political or religious meetings, he runs his business how he wants. I was told noo feminist tattoos. You cannot leave work early if there is a family obligation, but then somehow they say theres a great work/life balance. The interviewers were kind but it really seems like a miserable place to work with a close minded company owner. You will probably love it if youre a MAGA follower.
