I worked thru a recruiter and since I lived in town, they skipped the phone int, and went to the iin-person (4 hrs/ 4 people) They used exclusively behavioral interview questions. No serious technical challenge questions. Pretty standard fare of questions that most big corporations would ask. "Can you work under pressure", "Why do you want to work here", "What are your biggest accomplishments", ... etc etc

I was initially contacted by a recruiter who gave me about a 30 minute phone interview. After this, I was scheduled for an on-site interview which lasted approx. four hours and consisted of one on one interviews with three different people and then another hour where I was interviewed three on one. The interview was a standard, straight out of the book STAR behavior interview where interviewers asked questions from a standard list they each had. Many of the questions were redundant and varied greatly in terms of what they asked from chemical safety to work organization to technical skills. If you practiced for this type of interview, it should not be a problem. The interviewers were very professional and committed to their jobs. I was very prepared for my interview and it went well and was told the same. In the end, the job went to someone with an internal referral and I learned later that I was probably cannon fodder to satisfy requirements that so many people were interviewed for the position. I was very disappointed because I don't really think I was ever really considered for the job.
