I was invited to a formal interview after passing the AI interview stage. As a long-time HelloTalk user and a trilingual candidate, I prepared for several days to showcase my skills and deep understanding of language learning platforms.
However, the formal interview only lasted about 20 minutes, which felt very short given the opportunity. I requested an additional five minutes to present my portfolio to better demonstrate my qualifications.
Overall, I was quite disappointed. As a media student, I fully understand how much the company’s recruitment campaigns have boosted product exposure during the hiring season. Yet the interview process felt rushed and somewhat unprofessional. The interviewer seemed distracted—constantly drinking coffee—and the whole interaction felt more like a KPI check rather than a genuine discussion about the candidate’s fit and potential contributions.
At the end of the interview, the interviewer said I would be notified of the result as soon as possible. However, it has been over two weeks, and I have yet to receive any update.
I appreciate the opportunity to interview but hope the company can improve both the interview process and communication to better reflect its brand and values.
