Horrible experience and they should be ashamed of themselves for shameless info gathering (free consulting) without a real intention to hire anyone. Interviewed and did about 6 rounds only to be ghosted without any updates from the recruiter. Most questions were about "what strategy they should employ" and "what would you do if you were me" I reached out weekly and then bi-weekly for about 2 months only to be told they hadn't made a decision (even though the last interviewer mentioned they wanted me to speak to the GM next). I took another job offer and comically kept asking for an update for another two months just to see how long they would drag out the process of not providing any updates. After 4 months they finally sent an automated email saying they "appreciated my time and went with another candidate". However, the job listing is still active weeks later confirming my suspicion that it's not a real role and Harmonic is just looking for free information/strategy since all 6 team members I interviewed with (Dir and VP levels) had little experience in CTV/OTT and asked me questions I typically get paid to answer. Again shame on Harmonic for posting a fake role only to look for free consulting/ideas and also for leaving a candidate hanging for 4 months with no updates on next steps or to end the process.
My interview experience with Harmonic for the OTT Sales Manager position closely mirrored feedback I saw from a previous candidate — and unfortunately, I can confirm it.
The hiring manager spent more time talking about his own accomplishments than learning about mine, and seemed more interested in extracting market insights than genuinely evaluating fit. It became clear that the role had little room for real growth, as the key markets are already handled by the main sales team.
They are looking for a “hunter” to deliver overnight results in regions where they have no real presence or support. The expectations were unrealistic, and there was no clear strategy for success. The overall tone felt unprofessional and self-serving.
I wasn’t offered the role — and in hindsight, I’m grateful. Based on the interaction, this seems like a toxic environment to avoid.
