I had a disappointing interview experience.
Firstly, the hiring manager joined the interview approximately 20 minutes late without offering an apology or explanation. This set an unprofessional tone from the start.
During the interview, I shared a genuine example from my previous role about a challenge I faced in a new environment and how I proactively overcame it by taking initiative with teammates. Instead of exploring this positively, the hiring manager responded dismissively by stating that “this kind of issue does not exist here” and implied that their organisation was simply better. This came across as condescending and lacking openness to real-world experiences.
Additionally, when asked about weaknesses, my answer was interpreted in an overly judgmental and simplistic way, with assumptions made about my personality rather than focusing on growth or learning. This made the discussion feel more like a test of labels than an assessment of capability.
Overall, the interview felt one-sided, ego-driven, and lacking basic professionalism. I would encourage the company to improve interviewer punctuality, listening skills, and candidate experience, as interviews should be a two-way conversation.
