The interview process was pretty straight-forward. I applied online and about a week later was contacted by a recruiter to set up a phone interview with the hiring manager. We talked for about 45 minutes - first he talked a little bit about Gusto and what he was looking for in a candidate for the role, then he asked about my experience. It was really fun talking to him and I felt completely energized by our conversation. After that phone call, the recruiter reached out again to set up an in person interview, which we scheduled for the following week. A couple days before the in person interview, the recruiter called me again for interview prep - that call lasted about 20 minutes and she went over the roles and responsibilities of each person I would be talking to at Gusto and recommended the types of questions and topics to discuss with them respectively. The interview itself was with 4 different people (a cross-functional partner, the hiring manager, a peer, and a Learning and Development team member) and lasted 3.5 hours. First the recruiter gave me a tour of the space, then I met with each person 1:1 in a conference room for about 45 minutes each. They took notes on a computer and seemed to be filling out a form - they'd ask a question from the screen, then type as I answered. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, and seemed to genuinely want to get to know me. It was a very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere and even though it was really long, I did not feel "drained" by the end of the interview. It simply felt like I was having really great conversations, one after another. A week after my interview, I was offered the job!
