A recruiter reached out to me and I applied with a referral through a colleague who works there. The steps for the process were a phone screen, technical screen over hacker rank, and finally 7 hour long onsite interview. I loved that throughout the whole process my recruiters were very transparent about next steps. For example, before the onsite they sent me a long email that explained not just the schedule of each interview but also a detailed agenda on what I should expect to be tested on and what they are looking for. The onsite interview consisted of a 2 hour pair programming session, lunch with a manager, a culture add interview, a coding challenge, and a system design interview, as well as the recruiter checking in at the start / end of the day. I admit I was pretty intimidated by the length of the onsite, but upon meeting the team I found myself at ease due to everyone's hospitality. All my interviewers and recruiters were organized, transparent, and friendly. My closest thing to a complaint is that the tech interviews weren't the most language agnostic as they seem interested primarily in people who know ruby, javascript, or python, but they kind of make clear their stack focus early on in the process. It took about 2 weeks for the team to let me know that they will not be moving forward with me, but at that point I had accepted an offer with another company so it worked out for me. My recruiters were communicative throughout those 2 weeks, not leaving me in the dark about whether they are still considering me or decided to ghost me (an unfortunately common occurrence in recruiting). They also gave me critical feedback which, while hard to swallow, I thought was a fair assessment of my skills. Ultimately this gave me the signal that they were really careful in vetting a candidate for their role, which may be a con for people who are looking for a fast interview process.
